KCS to Host "KCS 101" Education Seminar for Potential Candidates and Community Members

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools is now accepting reservations for the new "KCS 101" educational seminar, an opportunity for up to 20 area residents to learn about the inner workings of KCS educational and functional operations. The one-day seminar will be tailored to those wanting to learn more about the district and/or those interested in running for an elected office in the upcoming May 21, 2019 Sullivan County election.

The "KCS 101" seminar will be held on Thursday, January 24, 2019 from 8 a.m. – 5 p.m. at the Kingsport City Schools Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield Street, downtown Kingsport. KCS 101 participants will receive information on a wide variety of topics, including: The KCS Story (district history, facilities, locations/demographics, data), the KCS Profile (Guiding Tenets, Strategic Plan), the KCS Vision (current and future vision initiatives), meet the KCS Leadership Cabinet along with other employees, School Board Operations (roles and responsibilities), Curriculum and Instruction (overview/goals/vision, philosophies, and practices), School Facilities and OperationsSchool SafetyFinanceHuman Resources, the Current State of Education (alignment of Federal, State, and Local requirements and priorities), Student Services and Engagement, and other administrative operations.

The "KCS 101" seminar is an abbreviated snapshot of the award-winning in-depth, six session, Insight KCS program. Insight KCS is an initiative that provides opportunities for stakeholders and potential advocates from various sectors of the Kingsport community to study the full scope of education and operations of Kingsport City Schools.
