The field has 2 out of the top 9 Golfweek ranked players in the country participating:
Jessie Mudd, ranked 5th and Luke List, ranked 9th
Jessie Mudd was ranked #1 at one point during the year.

Dobyns-Bennett High School, Kingsport,TN:   Coach Cary Daniels
In 2001 the Indians finished 6th in Region 1-AAA, 2nd in District 1-AAA, 2nd in Big 7 Conference.  Their overall record was 55-26.  The Indians placed 2nd in the 2002 Farmers & Miners.  Matt Barefoot & Matt Houston top two returning players.  Matt Barefoot made the  All-Big 7 team last year.  Matt tied for 2nd in the 2002 Morristown Invitational and placed 2nd in the 2002 Farmers & Miners Tournament.

Science Hill High School, Johnson City, TN:   Coach Mike Poe
In 2001 the Toppers finished as the TSSAA State Class AAA Champions.  Included in their 98-2 record were championships in Region 1-AAA, District 1-AAA, Big 7 Conference, McDonald's Tournament of Champions. Derek Adams tied for 4th in Class AAA State tournament.  The Toppers top returning players are Derek Adams, Jimmy Humston, and Brad Robinson.  The Toppers won the 2002 Farmers & Miners Invitational Tournament.

Tennessee High School, Bristol, TN:   Coach Bob Zeiger
In 2001 the Vikings were Big 6 Champions and they finished 4th in the District 1-AAA tournament.  Micah Chappell, the top returning player, and T.C. Baker qualified for Region 1-AAA Tournament.  Micah tied for 2nd in the  2002 Morristown Invitational.

Baylor High School, Chattanooga, TN:     Coach King Oehmig
In 2001 the Red Raiders were the TSSAA Division II State Champions.  They posted a 67-3 record along with winning the East Region Championship.  Returning this year will be Luke List who won the Division II State Individual Championship and Region Championship.  Luke finished 3rd in the McDonald's last year.  Josh Nelms and Bryan Hartley tied for 3rd in the state tournament.

St. Xavier High School, Louisville, KY:     Coach Marty Donlon
In 2001 the Tigers were the Kentucky State Champions.  Their score of 589 broke the team record by 10 strokes. They won all 7 Invitational tournaments they played in and had 6 out of  7 individual champions.  2001 was the 8th consective undefeated season in dual matches.  They return Jessie Mudd who finished 2nd in the state.  Jessie was Mr. Golf in the State of Kentucky and in December was the #1 ranked junior in the country.  Michael Haverfield and Brad Ruch also return.  Michael finished 4th in the state tournament in 2001.

Clarksville High School, Clarksville, TN:   Coach Ronnie Fuqua
In 2001 the Wildcats placed 2nd in the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament.  Included in their 51-10 record were championships in Region 5-AAA, District 10-AAA and the Trigg County Kentucky Invitational.

Oakland High School, Murfreesboro, TN:   Coach Dallas Hill
In 2001 the Patriots placed 3rd in the TSSAA Class AAA State Tournament.  They return their top 5 players. Spencer Provow and Philip Pettitt are the top returning players.  Phillip won the Tennessee State Junior this summer.

Farragut High School, Knoxville, TN:     Coach Mike Driver
In 2001 the Admirals placed 4th in the TSSAA State Tournament.  Included in their 75-13 record were championships in Region 2-AAA and District 4-AAA.  Returning are Ross Cox, Luke Ladd, & Brice Schweitzer.  Ross was the TSSAA Class AAA Individual Champion.  He won the Willmore Prep Invitational, placed 4th in the region, and tied for 10th in the McDonald's.  Ross was named the K.I.L. Player of the Year.  Luke placed 2nd in the District & 3rd in the Morristown Invitational.  Brandon Bunn, a freshman, won the 2002 Morristown Invitational.

St. Anthony High School, Effingham, IL:   Coach Phil Zaccari
In 2001 the Bulldogs were the IHSA Class A State Champions.   Their record was 23-2 and they won the IHSA Sectionals, IHSA Regionals, the Quincy D.A. Weibring Invitational, the Paris Invitational, and the Alton Catholic Schools Tournament.  They return 5 of their top 6 players.  Matt Kenter was the Region Champion,  Jeff Wendt finished in the top 10 in every tournament during 2001,   Matt Imburgia had 3 top 10 finishes,   Mike Imburgia was the Individual State Champion, Jake Niebrugge had 2 top 10 finishes.

Fairfield High School, Fairfield, OH:   Coach Steve Kessler
In 2001 the Indians finished 10th in State Tournament.  They had a 19-0 dual match record.  They were ranked 1st in the Cincinnati Enquirer.   Fairfield won 5 consecutive tournaments:  The Pepsi Elks Classic, Middletown Invitational, Hamilton Invitational, Vandalia Butler Invitational, and the Fairfield Invitational.  They return their top 6 players.  Tony Bosken  was their number one player.  Tony placed 2nd in the Northeast Regional All-American Qualifier.  This season the Indians won the 2002 King High School Invitational with a score of 302.

Jefferson County High School, Dandrige, TN:   Coach David Noonkesser
In 2001 the Patroits placed 2nd in Region 2-AAA, 1st in District 2-AAA, 1st in the IMAC Conference.  They return 6 of their top players from last season.   Lucas Tabor and Jonathan Hodge qualified for the state tournament.  This season they tied for 1st in the 2002 Morristown Invitational with a score of 304 and lost in a team playoff.  

Cathedral Prep School, Erie PA:   Coach Ron Coleman
In 2001 the Ramblers were District 10 Team Champions, District 10 North Qualifier Team Champions, Franklin Invitational Champions, Mercyhurst Prep Invitational Champions, and Warren Invitational Champions.  They posted a 13-2 dual meet record.  In Pennsylvania they do not have a team state tournament.  Cathedral Prep qualified 4 out of 6 individual spots from District 10 for the PIAA state tournament.  Most ever from one school in District 10.  Pat Kloecker was the Rough Rider Invitational Champion and District 10 North Qualifier Co-Champions,  Jon Merriott was the Mercyhurst Prep Invitational Champion and District 10 Champion,  Ryan Stadler was the Franklin Invitational Champion.  

Woodberry Forest School, Woodberry Forest, VA:     Coach Marc A. Hogan
In 2001 the Tigers were the Virginia Prep League Champion for the 10 consecutive year.  They have won the Woodberry Forest/Orange Co. High School Invitational Champions 3 consecutive years.  Robert Long was the VPL individual co-champion.  Chris Brown  finished 1st in the Westfield Jr. PGA New England  tournament, 5th in the Westfield Jr. PGA National Finals, 7th in AJGA Eastern Canadian Jr,  and Overall point winner for the New England PGA Jr. Tour.

Powell Valley High School, Big Stone Gap, VA:     Coach Jim Kelly
In 2001 the Vikings won the A/AA division of the Farmers & Miners tournament for the 9th straight time.  They had a 18-1 regular season record.  They were the Lonesome Pine regular season champions.  A tragic automobile accident injured 3 of their top players just before the District tournament preventing them from playing.  All the players have recovered and the Vikings should field a strong team.

Tullahoma High School, Tullahoma, TN:   Coach Jeff Hale
In 2001 the Wildcats won the District 3-AAA for the 5th year in a row.  They finished the season with 52-4 record and were runner-ups in the Region 3-AAA.  Cody Hale, Dustin Lynch, & Trent McNabb are the top returning players.  Cody was Co-Champion in the District 3-AAA tournament, 2nd in Region 3-AAA, and 4th in the TSSAA State tournament.  Cody  won the 2002 Tennessee Westfield PGA State Tournament and finished 30th in the national tournament.  He finished 17th in the 2002 Future Masters.  Dustin was Co-Champion in the District 3-AAA Tournament, and 5th in Region 3-AAA.  Trent qualified for the TSSAA State Tournament last season as a freshman.
