2017-18 Assessment Calendars

Kingsport City Schools has separated their 2017-18 Assessment Calendars into three levels - elementary, middle, and high school.

Each calendar outlines the test, testing window, grade levels, purpose and use, and the manner in which parents are informed of results. Any questions may be directed to Michael Hubbard, the Director of Performance Excellence.

 State Testing

TNReady is the state’s TCAP test for English/ Language Arts, Science, Social Studies, and Mathematics in grades 3-11. The new assessments are designed to assess true student understanding of the current state standards. Additional information related to TNReady can be accessed at Tennessee Department of Education website.

The Tennessee Department of Education has a website to provide additional information about TNReady score reports in order to help families better understand their students' individual score reports, as well as next steps for supporting their students' academic progress. The website includes detailed explanations of each section of the individual score report and links to additional resources. Click here to view the website.

Finally, we have included some helpful resources that may assist in understanding the new assessments. The resources are listed with a brief summary of their contents.

  1. Why Test- a one page overview of why testing is important and the purpose of state tests.
  2. TNReady Parent Guide- a guide to assist parents with the design, format, and testing timeframes for the 2017-18 academic year.
