Kingsport City Schools to Host Information Session for Parents of Home-School Special Needs Students

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Parents and teachers of private and home-schooled special needs students are invited to an information session to learn more about services that Kingsport City Schools can provide.

The information session will be held on Wednesday, September 16, 2015 from 11:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. located in the Shelby Room at the Administrative Support Center, 400 Clinchfield Street, third floor, downtown Kingsport.

Kingsport City Schools assists in locating, identifying, evaluating and serving all school-aged children who are home-schooled or attend private school within the city limits and qualify for services under the Individuals with Disabilities Education Improvement Act and Title III of the No Child Left Behind Act.

Additionally, educators working in private schools attended by children who qualify for services under these two programs, Title I (education for the disadvantaged) or Title II (improving teacher quality) may also be eligible to receive some federal funding or services.
