After the Gatlinburg wildfires last week, Dobyns-Bennett High School Soccer Coach, Blake Rutherford contacted the Gatlinburg-Pittman High School Soccer Coach, Zach Schrandt, to determine how the DBHS Soccer Community could help.

Coach Schrandt informed him that eight (8) players (six boys and two girls) have lost their homes and practically all of their belongings in the wildfires. They have been receiving some immediate support from the Red Cross and a few other schools and organizations. He held a team meeting with the players and families this week to discuss their long term needs. These needs include winter clothes such a sweatshirts, hoodies, sweat pants, winter coats, etc. In addition, the D-B Soccer Booster board voted to donate $1,000 to help with immediate expenses.

If able, please consider showing your support as well. The DBHS Soccer Team will be collecting donations of winter clothing items (size large for boys & size small for girls), gift cards or monetary donations. These items can be dropped off at the D-B Soccer Field House on Tuesday, Dec. 13 or Thursday, Dec. 15 during the boys training sessions from 3:30 – 5 p.m.

Thank you for your consideration!
