WHAT: Kingsport City Schools Announces Grand Opening of Ben Carson Reading Room

Kingsport City Schools, in conjunction with the Carson Scholars Fund, Domtar, and their suppliers, is pleased to announce the grand opening of the Ben Carson Reading Room on Friday, August 26, at 9:30 a.m. at Abraham Lincoln Elementary School.
“Abraham Lincoln Elementary is honored and thrilled to have been given the opportunity to offer a special place for students to further develop their love of reading,” said Lincoln Principal Shelia Newland. “The Ben Carson Reading Room will give our Lincoln Lions a wonderful place to discover new adventures in a calm, positive and enriching environment.”
The Domtar Kingsport Mill partnered with Lincoln and the Carson Scholars Fund to create the new reading space. “We are very proud to be a sponsor of the new Ben Carson Reading Room at Lincoln Elementary,” said Bill MacPherson, Domtar’s Kingsport Mill Manager. “Through the efforts of mill volunteers and others, we transformed an existing space into a welcoming place for children to read.” The Ben Carson Reading Room at Lincoln is the fourth of ten new reading rooms to open nationwide through the Domtar partnership.
