KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools has named Frankie DeBusk as Athletics Director of Dobyns-Bennett High School. DeBusk will be responsible for the oversight, coordination, and direction of all school athletic programming.
“We are thrilled that Coach DeBusk is bringing his long history of achievement and deep knowledge of athletics and leadership to our programs here at Dobyns-Bennett,” said Dobyns-Bennett Principal Dr. Chris Hampton. “Coach DeBusk has proven he knows what it takes to reach a high level of success and we are excited that his leadership will help continue the storied legacy of the Tribe. We look forward to Frankie and his family becoming a regular fixture in our community.”
DeBusk has served in a variety of coaching and leadership roles throughout his career, including assistant coach and coordinator at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga and 18 years as the head coach at Tusculum College. While at Tusculum, he led the five most successful football seasons in the history of the program and is the school's winningest coach. In addition to his coaching duties, he also served as Tusculum Athletic Director for eight years. As AD, he served as Chair of the South Atlantic Conference Athletic Directors' Council and was a member of the NCAA Division II Regional Advisory Committee for Football.

DeBusk graduated from Greeneville High School in 1987 and earned his Bachelor of Arts from Furman University in 1991. As a three-year starting quarterback at Furman, he led the Paladins to three consecutive Southern Conference Championships and the NCAA Division I-AA National Championship in 1988. He was inducted into the Furman University Athletic Hall of Fame in 1997. Frankie is married to the former Jennifer Coffey of Bristol, TN and they have a son, Ty.
