KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Kingsport City Schools has named Dr. Tony Robinson as Chief Technology Officer. Dr. Robinson will oversee all technology operations for the district, including all programs, services, policies, support, and programming. He will assume his duties on Monday, July 29, 2019.
“The addition of Dr. Robinson to our district leadership team will help propel our technology efforts as we seek to provide the best possible environments for our students, teachers, and staff,” said KCS Superintendent Dr. Jeff Moorhouse. “His background in technology and educational support align perfectly with our mission as a district. We are excited to have him join the KCS family.”
Dr. Robinson has most recently served as Chief Information Officer at Mountain Empire Community College. While at MECC, he was responsible for the creation, development, and execution of the college’s technology plan, as well as providing leadership for all school-wide technology and information systems. Previously, he has also served as a Senior Systems Engineer at Alpha Natural Resources (Bristol, VA), the Director of Information Technology at Data Design Corporation (Rockville, MD), and a Network Systems and Operations Manager at Avendra (Rockville, MD).
“Kingsport City Schools has a strong reputation of being a leader in the use and integration of technology in the classroom. The 21st century classroom is one where technology integration has become a common tool for enhancing and improving the learning experiences of students.” said Dr. Robinson. “Being a native of the region, I have watched technology integration grow and become an integral part of learning at KCS. I am extremely excited to join the KCS team and continue the culture of technology innovation.”
Dr. Robinson holds a doctorate in Business Administration with a Management Information Systems Specialization from Northcentral University (San Diego). He earned his bachelor’s degree in Systems and Network Administration and a master’s degree in Management Information Systems from Bellevue University (NE). He holds a variety of industry certifications, including CompTIA A+, Network+, and Security+ certificates. He is also a Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer and a Microsoft Certified Systems Administrator.
