Kingsport City Schools Clark Receives Tennessee RISE Award

KINGSPORT, Tenn. – The Tennessee Department of Education (TDOE) has announced Becky Clark, Kingsport City Schools Coordinator of Student Information Services, has received the 2023-24 Tennessee Recognizing Inspirational School Employees (RISE) Award.

The RISE Award was established by the United States Congress in 2019 and is overseen by the U.S. Department of Education to honor classified school employees (non-teachers), such as administrative, food and nutrition, health and student service, transportation, or custodial staff, who provide exemplary service to students and their communities.

"It is an honor to represent Kingsport City Schools by receiving the RISE Award," said Becky Clark. "I would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Chris Hampton and Mr. Michael Hubbard for nominating me for such a prestigious award. While I appreciate this recognition, it would not have been possible without the teamwork within Kingsport City Schools."

Clark will be recognized at the December 8, 2023 Excellence in Education celebration held in Nashville. This celebration will also honor the Tennessee Principal of the Year and Supervisor of the Year.

"Becky Clark is the perfect selection for the Tennessee RISE award," said Dr. Chris Hampton, Kingsport City Schools Superintendent. "Her responsibilities are critical to day-to-day school and district-level processes. Becky is the consummate professional and the picture of what it means to be dedicated to a school district. She is a blessing to Kingsport City Schools and I am honored to have her as a member of our work family."

"Becky Clark demonstrates excellence through her dedication, reliability, and commitment," said Michael Hubbard, Kingsport City Schools Director of Performance Excellence. "She embodies a collaborative spirit, innovative problem-solving abilities, and an unsurpassed work ethic. Her exceptional qualities inspire and motivate those around her, making her a true asset."

Clark is entering her 35th year with Kingsport City Schools. During her tenure, she has served as secretary at the Administrative Support Center and Robinson Middle School, the Student Information Services technician at Dobyns-Bennett High School, and is currently the district-wide Coordinator of Student Information Services. Clark serves on the steering committee for the Tennessee Data and Attendance Supervisors conference.

Clark will now represent Tennessee in the U.S. Department of Education’s national selection process where one national honoree will be selected. The national winner will be presented an award in Spring 2024.
