KINGSPORT, Tenn. – Mrs. Valerie Love has been named associate principal of Theodore Roosevelt Elementary, effective immediately.  Mrs. Love replaces Mrs. Nikki Skeen, who vacated the role when being named principal at Roosevelt on July 1, 2015.

Mrs. Love has served a total of 21 years in education, with 16 years as a high school mathematics teacher.  In addition to teaching math at Dobyns-Bennett High School and serving as an instructional mathematics coach, she has received multiple honors and appointments during her career.  She was named a Tennessee SCORE Fellow in 2014, a Tennessee CORE Coach from 2011-2014, and held the position of Past President of UETCTM (Upper East Tennessee Council of Teachers of Mathematics).  Love has also served on the Tennessee State Assessment Practice Task Force and is a member of the KCS Compensation Task Force.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to serve as associate principal at Roosevelt Elementary,” said Valerie Love. “I look forward to serving the students, staff, and families of the Roosevelt community in a capacity that will benefit student learning in a school that has proven to put students first.”

Love holds a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and a Master’s of Science in Curriculum and Instruction degree from the University of Tennessee, as well as an Educational Specialist degree in School Leadership from Lincoln Memorial University.

“Mrs. Love has demonstrated a long history of academic excellence and leadership at the school, local, and state level,” said KCS Superintendent Dr. Lyle Ailshie.  “I am excited that she will bring those skills to the Roosevelt community and look forward to the support she will provide an already excellent learning environment.”
