This video shows actions that you can take at child care facilities and K-12 schools to help protect yourself and others from getting sick. Nonpharmaceutical Interventions or NPIs are actions, apart from getting vaccinated and taking medicine, that people and communities can take to help slow the spread of illnesses like flu. Whittier did kid little kid or just a kid at heart no one likes to be sick in addition to getting vaccinated you can help fight the spread of flu that consistently and correctly practicing a few simple healthy habits  getting vaccinated is the best way to prevent the flu and a vaccine is available go to cheer for seasonal flu there also are actions that you can take and teach kids to take to help protect themselves and others from getting sick flu symptoms can include fever the chills coughing a sore throat a runny nose body aches headaches and feeling tired some children may have vomiting and diarrhea if your student has some or all of these symptoms tell them to talk to the school nurse and let them know what's going on what's their parent or Guardian to pick them up from school and take them home if the student has a fever encourage them to stay home for at least 24 hour after their fever is gone without the use of medicine that lowers fever their health is very important and they need to rest  when a student is it's cool it's important for them to keep their distance from others to help protect their health and the health of everyone else at school  teach kids to all cover their coughs and sneezes the best way is by using a tissue and tossing it in the trash when they're done they should wash or sanitize their hands afterwards if a tissue is in handy it's okay for them to cover their coughs and sneezes with their sleeve  washing their hands often with soap and water also can to keep them from getting sick encourage kids to scrub their hands all over the backs of hands under nails and between fingers if soap and water are not available it's okay for them to use alcohol-based hand sanitizer  germs like flu can stay on surfaces and objects that are touched often like toys computers and water fountains and door knobs having a normal cleaning schedule and play will also help to prevent illness at school to remove germs you can wipe down surfaces with a Sylvan water mixture of bleach and water solution board ETA approved products  by teaching kids to take these actions you'll be doing your part to help keep your kids and healthy
