The 71st Annual 2026 National Merit Scholarship Program is designed to identify and honor the top high school students in the United States.

For the ninth consecutive year, Kingsport City Schools has achieved the top composite score of 5 in Tennessee Value Added Assessment System.

Standing alone in the region as the only school ranked among the Top 25 Public High Schools in Tennessee, earning the #19 spot out of 373 high schools.

Recipient of a $3,500 Whole Kids Foundation Garden Grant and an additional $1,000 monetary award from Newman’s Own Foundation.
