BOE Called Meeting Notes - March 24, 2022

The Kingsport City Schools Board of Education held a called meeting on Thursday, March 24, 2022.  Two items were discussed, including:
 
  • Acceptance of a donation from the Kingsport Chamber Foundation; and 
  • Approval of a bid for lighting improvements to J. Fred Johnson Stadium at Dobyns-Bennett High School.

David Frye, Chief Finance Officer, presented information regarding a monetary donation from the Kingsport Chamber Foundation.
  • The monetary donation in the amount of $250,000 is designated to be used for improvement projects at Dobyns-Bennett High School. 
  • After review, the Board voted 5-0 to approve the donation.
Mr. Frye reviewed bids opened on March 23, 2022 regarding a lighting improvement project at J. Fred Johnson Stadium at Dobyns-Bennett High School.
  • Four valid bids were received for the project.  
  • The low base bid for the project was submitted by Kingsport Armature & Electric for the amount of $600,000.
  • Following review, the Board voted 5-0 to approve the bid submitted by Kingsport Armature & Electric.
The next meeting of the Board of Education will be on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at 6 p.m.  The meeting session will take place in the Tennessee Room of the Administrative Support Center (400 Clinchfield Street).
